Bus Stop Weather

February 2, 2011 at 2:53 pm

This morning, the temperature at my bus stop was 1°F (-17°C), according to the thermometer in my car.  The wind chill, according to local weather radio, was -21°F (-29°C).

The bus was 20 minutes late.

I thought I was being smart by catching the later bus, which is to say the bus that comes after the sun has risen.  Ha.

I'm proud to say, though, that I was the only person not shivering.  I know how to dress for cold weather.  Sure, I might look like a dork, but I'm a comfortable dork.

It's true what they say: there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

I can't see "1F" without thinking of Planes, Trains 7 Automobiles. Neal: What do you think the temperature is? Del: One. We're under about six inches of snow, which is straight-up BIZARRE for Oklahoma. We're not shivering, though, because I've set all of my old office attire aflame and spent the last two days crocheting snuggies for everyone. True story.

I can't think of that movie without remembering: "She's short and skinny, but she's strong. Her first baby come out sideways, she didn't scream or nothing."
