Weather, part 2

February 3, 2011 at 11:04 pm

I should have known better than to feel smug about my ability to bundle up for cold weather.  But I didn't, and the gods always punish hubris.

Which in this case means I came home this afternoon to find an inch of water on my kitchen floor, courtesy of a broken pipe.

So that was super awesome.

That's a massive pain. Is there a basement to accentuate the pain? Good luck with the clean-up.

Why do January and February feel like they are a year long? Just keep reminding yourself that spring does come.

Thanks. I'll take that luck. They don't do basements here, which I suppose is a blessing in disguise now, although I found it strange when I first moved here. (Having come from the fringes of Tornado Alley in the Midwest.) So at least I didn't come home to a brand new swimming pool in the basement. I was able to sweep/squeegee the water out the back door. I've *always* hated February for as long as I can remember.

From now on, I'm always wearing my handmade trash-bag poncho whenever I'm in the house.
