Praise for the
Milkweed Triptych
"A major talent... I can't wait to see more."
—George R. R. Martin
"Mad English warlocks battling twisted Nazi psychics? Yes please, thank you. Tregillis's debut has a white-knuckle plot, beautiful descriptions, and complex characters-- an unstoppable Vickers of a novel."
Cory Doctorow on Bitter Seeds
"Ian Tregillis triumphantly concludes his astonishing, brilliant, pulse-pounding debut trilogy, The Milkweed Triptych."
Cory Doctorow on Necessary Evil
"Tregillis' conclusion of the Milkweed Triptych is the pièce de résistance of the series. Necessary Evil is a perfect marriage of science fiction, fantasy and alternate history."
RT Book Reviews (4.5 stars, Top Pick) on Necessary Evil
"Darkly fascinating…A thoroughly fascinating conclusion to an imaginative tour de force."
Kirkus on Necessary Evil
"A cross between the devious, character-driven spy fiction of early John le Carré and the mad science fantasy of the X-Men... Despite the jaw-dropping backdrop and oblique plotting, the narrative is driven by character and personal circumstance...
Grim indeed, yet eloquent and utterly compelling."
—Kirkus on The Coldest War
"The characters come alive via [Tregillis's] imaginative dialogue and his storyline will keep readers spellbound and on the edge of their seats with an intense sci-fi/alternate history thriller plot."
RT Book Reviews (4.5 stars, Top Pick) on The Coldest War
"Well-drawn characters and a feel for time and place make this an excellent journey into an alternate Britain."
—Library Journal on Bitter Seeds
"Engrossing... Tregillis ably mixes cold war paranoia with his mythology."
Publishers Weekly on The Coldest War

It's Out: Bitter Seeds Debuts in the UK!
Thursday, July 12 2012, 09:28 AM

Okay, so I'm a little giddy this morning.  It's not every day I get to celebrate a book launch.  (And the first of two book launches in the same week, no less.)

But today I get to do it, and so I am:  Today marks Bitter Seeds's debut from Orbit UK!  Calloo, callay, oh frabjous day.

Hello and welcome, new readers!   Information, and many links, reside below the cut.

Orbit has marked the occasion here, and has posted an excerpt here.  And of course there's plenty of information about Bitter Seeds here.

If you'd like to sample the world of Bitter Seeds, here are two free short stories set in the Milkweed universe:  What Doctor Gottlieb Saw takes place between the prologue and Chapter 1 of Bitter SeedsChronicle of Sorrows takes place a few months before the prologue.  (If "Chronicle..." seems a little bit cryptic, that's because it was written as part of this game.)

I'm delighted that Orbit UK has chosen to publish the Milkweed books in the UK and Commonwealth. I feel especially lucky, given that these books -- primarily about British characters -- were written by an American.   But Orbit was willing to overlook the unintentional Americanisms that slipped through the book, and I hope readers will, too...

Anyway, like I said: hello and welcome, new readers!  I hope you enjoy getting to know Marsh, Will, Klaus, Gretel, and all the rest.  They are certainly very happy to meet you.

Except Gretel. She knew you were coming and has already plotted your ultimate demise.

Re: untitled - Ian, Thursday, July 12 2012, 10:48 AM
That's true. She's probably not "happy" to meet new people so much as "faintly amused".

Not that she kills people. It's just that, you know, events unfold a certain way and sometimes people die as a result. But is that really her fault? That's like blaming the ocean for being wet.

Cool. Very nice. Hopefully many new readers will come whiffling and burbling along.

Thank you, Steve! I hope so, too...

Ian, that's great! Congratulations. I'm pretty curious to hear how it's received over there.

Thanks very much, Jake! I'm curious, too. Or, more honestly, nervous...
