[Hi there. If you’ve stopped by to read my infamous blog post regarding the bizzaro publishing history of my trilogy, it’s here.]
Wow.
You guys. I mean… wow. Just, wow.
I cannot believe how much attention my previous blog post has received. When I posted that entry on Sunday, I did it to clear the air, and so that I’d have a long and detailed explanation available for when people asked about the books. I honestly never thought it would be seen immediately by anybody other than my usual readers (hello, all 5 of you!). When I asked for folks to spread the word, I had no idea just how far you’d spread it.
I’m blown away by all the blog comments and many private messages of support. I know I’ve already said this dozens of times, but the support and affirmation means the world to me. Everybody has been incredibly kind. Thank you.
I’ll admit that when the retweeting started I began to worry people were stopping by to witness some kind of public mental breakdown. Had I gone off the rails of sanity and nobody wanted to warn me? (I can’t help it; I’m a writer.)
But friends have reassured me that I haven’t come close to Charlie Sheen territory yet. Gotta say, that’s a relief.
I’m no F-18. And maybe I don’t have magic in my fingertips.
But you guys make me feel like I do.
Again, thank you.
I have to admit I didn’t see your Sunday blogpost until today when I read Melinda’s & she mentioned it. It’s really a shame what happened, but I’m pleased everything is back on track. The series is good, it deserves publication, it deserves notice.
And you must not let what happens there make you feel as if the work is useless. While it’s unfortunate that their (or his) breakdown has dragged the trilogy into the muck, it’s not because it’s bad stuff. It’s good stuff, it’s great stuff, as we’ve been trying to tell you since you first came to CM. Buck up, boy, you’ll eventually get your deserved awards & recognition.
(Comments on the original post probably contain variations on this rah-rah speech, but like I say, I’m late coming to the party. Besides,I care only about what I have to say.)
I’m really glad for all the positive response you have gotten also.
Hmm, now I’ve got to think of another innocent question to ask that will kick off … π
We’d be hard pressed to come up with something that generated such a flurry of linkage, however briefly!
At least until I have a mental breakdown and start documenting online every moment of the downward spiral.
Thanks a bunch, Terry. We all care about what you have to say π
Glad you’re still around. I hope life is treating you well in KC. I wasn’t able to fit Conquest into my schedule this year, damn it.
Hi, Ian, Just to affirm what others have said: Thank you for posting this fuller back story. Of course we trust you about the mss! It’s just unconscionable what’s happened with the delays to your work and to Melinda’s! We’ll wait for _Coldest War_ and buy up evry copy in sight. I personally find the _Bitter Seeds_cover hauntingly effective, and I can’t wait to add #2 and 3 to own all three novels. Thank you for not giving up.
Thank you, Patrice. That means a lot to me. It’s extremely kind of you to say so, and I really appreciate it.
