Rio Hondo, Day 4 (Recorded Live, Rebroadcast on Tape Delay)

Posted on May 20, 2011January 8, 2025 by eidolon

It snowed off an on throughout Wednesday night.  Which set the stage for a lovely evening, with dinner and post-dinner conversation ranging from the best place to see a Bugatti Veyron in the wild (outside casinos in Monte Carlo, apparently) to the best method for removing the brain from a human skull, to why one shouldn’t go horseback riding during a tarantula migration.

(Interesting folks, writers.)

The snow knocked out the electricity, right around the time folks were getting ready to pack it in for the night.  I brushed my teeth by the pale glow of my cellphone.  I think snow fade, or snow on the dish, also knocked out our internet connection for a while yesterday afternoon, when another front came through.

But when I woke up on Thursday, the world looked like this:

and this:

and this:

and this:

So that was nice.  Less nice was the second front that came through while I was outside on a hike.  But I did manage to make it back before they sent the St. Bernards after me.

It was wonderful fun. Even if the snow clinging to your eyebrows made you look like you’d aged forty years. Good news, you’re going to look very distinguished when you’re 80. 🙂
