Richard, the uber-talented web designer who built this site, has just won two 2008 W3 Silver Awards for his work on behalf of little ol’ me: one in the category of Best Visual Appeal, and another in the Entertainment category.
Congratulations, Richard! I do believe I speak on behalf of the internet when I say that you rock, sir.The W3 awards are a major accolade. (And did I mention Richard won two?) Here’s what he has to say about the awards.
Check out the list of winners. 3232 Design is listed alongside some of the largest names in the biz. Which is, you know, pretty damn cool.
And of course I’d be lying if I said that my joy was entirely altruistic. Richard went above-and-beyond the call of duty at every step of the process of designing, building, and launching this website. The result has been a web presence that makes me proud, that stands out, and that people just plain enjoy. Which, for a fledgling novelist still in the early days of his professional writing career, is a huge deal.
This marks the fourth time this website has been recognized since its launch at the end of February. We’ve been an Adobe Site of the Day (April 18, 2008); the wallpaper based on this site was selected as a Daily Deviation at deviantART (April 6, 2008); and we were a Cool Home Pages winner, too. Hooray, us!
And thanks, Richard, for your amazing work on my behalf. The check is in the mail.
Fun Fact of the Day: The Nobel Prize for Web Design is known colloquially as the “Webby”, because Alfred Nobel had webbed fingers.
I’d like to thank my fan, family and friend. I couldn’t have done it without you.
I hope you understand that when I say the check is in the mail, I mean that as a metaphorical check, drawn on the bank of respect and gratitude. Not, you know, an actual check worth money.
Congratulations, Richard! That is wonderful. Ian’s site is absolutely beautiful. I’ve had mine redesigned (partly because it hadn’t changed in almost three years, and partly because it was so blah compared to this amazing site.)
I think you both rock.
