Earlier this year (much earlier: January), I posted about my “gears and geas” story, “The Mainspring of His Heart, the Shackles of His Soul”. it sold to the Human for a Day anthology, edited by Jenn Brozek.
And now, at the end of the year, the anthology is out in the wild. Hooray!
Jenn wrote a piece about it for John Scalzi’s Big Idea series today.
I received my copy a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say it looks pretty dandy. I like the story I dreamed up for this one, and the world even moreso. I’ve added it to the list of novel ideas, but I’d guess it’s one or two books out at this point.
And speaking of books, the new project continues apace. I had to put it aside for a while, but I’m happy to have returned to it. Even happier to find I still like it when I see it with fresh eyes.
Looking forward to starting this when I get back home.
There are two copies available through a giveaway on good reads right now.
Congrats Ian! It now resides on my Nook.
Oops, I should have taken a closer look at Goodreads before I posted this…
Hope you both enjoy it!
That world wants you to write more in it.
Thanks 🙂
There could be a really fun novel there. But it would take a metric crapload of research. Also, if I’ve never mentioned it, I’m super lazy.
Dear Mr. Tregillis,
I apologize in advance for the following off-topic comment: I was wondering why Cold War does not show up on Audible’s site under your name or in its upcoming novel section? I know that it is coming out in just two days and wanted to be sure that nothing has been postponed. Again, I apologize for my off-topic comment. Thanks so much!
-Kenny
Hi, Kenny, and thanks for the note. (Mr. Tregillis was my dad, by the way. Har har har…)
No need to apologize whatsoever– that’s not an off-topic question. Asking about the release dates for my books is always a relevant question, and I appreciate it that people actually care enough to notice changes!
Alas, the Audible.com publication date for the audio edition of The Coldest War is moving to January 17. The delay became necessary because of a scheduling problem with the narrator– my understanding is that he was inadvertently double-booked. So the production is still going forward, and as far as I know might be pretty far along. But it won’t be out just before Christmas.
Thank you for asking, and thank you even more for motivating me to stop being so lazy and do a blog post announcement! And please accept my sincere apology for not announcing this sooner.
I hope you do enjoy the book when it finally arrives.
