The Next Big Thing

Posted on December 5, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

As part of the “Next Big Thing” meme that’s been making the rounds in the Facebook/Twitter/blogosphere the past few weeks, my pal Jo Anderton tagged me in her blog post last Wednesday.  Thanks, Jo!

My answers to the Next Big Thing questions are below the cut.  And then I tag three people instead of five, because I’m lazy.

Though my newest project is the tentatively titled Clakkers trilogy, as I mentioned recently, I’m going to talk about my other projects, the ones that are headed for publication in 2013.

New Interview / Also, Stuff Was Broken

Posted on October 19, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

My Antipodean pal Emily Craven is interviewing authors in advance of the World Fantasy Convention in Toronto at the end of the month.  Even though I had to pull out of WFC this year, owing to a conflict with my work schedule, Emily kindly offered to interview me anyway.  Our conversation can be heard here or here.  By which I mean, of course, you can hear me ramble and babble while Emily tries heroically to keep the conversation on track!

Bubonicon 44, It Has a Schedule

Posted on August 22, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

After several weeks, I’m still coming home from work every evening feeling like I’ve had my head tapped with a 1/2″ auger bit and all the neurotransmitter drained.  It’s not the most awesome thing in the world, but, on the other hand, it’s far from the worst thing in the world, too.

But!  Our local SF convention, Bubonicon, is THIS WEEKEND.  And, like all Bubonicons, it will be great.  Right now the promise of Bubonicon is what’s getting me through the week.  Below the cut: schedules!

Thanks Again, Alice Ann

Posted on August 10, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

No thanks to me whatsoever, the peach tree in my back yard is producing a bumper crop this year.  I didn’t get any peaches last summer, perhaps because of the ferociously cold winter that shattered water pipes all over town, but the year before that I ate sheer deliciousness right off the tree.

For that I thank Alice Ann, who lived here prior to me.  And who planted the peach tree years ago.

Another Round of Copyedits Finished

Posted on August 4, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

This past week at the day job was utterly crazytown bananapants.  Yikes.

So, just a quick update to mention that copyedits on Milkweed #3, Necessary Evil, are finished.  As with the first two Milkweed books, I was lucky to land a really superb copyeditor who went to great lengths to make me appear (somewhat) literate.

That’s another milestone on the way to publication.  And a pretty major one.  Next stop, galleys!  And before I know it, the calendar will say “April” and the book will be out.  Hooray!
