Yesterday, I posted a long walkthrough for the solution to the Chronicle of Sorrows game. Today, over at 3232 Design, Richard—the designer of the game, as well as the man behind this website—has posted a more extensive “behind the scenes” look at the game’s development.
Down near the bottom of his post, he’s gone one further. He has issued a challenge. And there’s money on the line.
In yesterday’s post, I mentioned that nobody has yet translated the Easter Egg file on Stephenson’s desk. (It looks like so far only a couple of people have found it, according to Google Analytics, but as far as I know nobody has offered up a translation yet.)
Richard is offering a $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificate to the first person to provide an accurate translation of the Easter Egg file.
He thinks his money is safe. I suspect otherwise.
If you want to take a crack at it, send your translation either to me (ian@iantregillis.com) or Richard (info@3232design.com).
Good luck, and enjoy spending Richard’s hard-earned cash.
Addendum: The prize has already been claimed. Congratulations, Patrick!
I will not get dragged back into this.
And yet…
