There’s A Trick To It: Don’t Get Bitten

Posted on June 13, 2009 by eidolon

Suicide Kings, the final volume of the Wild Cards “Committee Triad”, will be hitting shelves this December.  But, if you need a preview to hold you over for the next 6 months — or if you love crocodiles, Tarzan, and pith helmets — then GRRM has got you covered.

As he mentioned on his Not-A-Blog the other day, he has posted a Suicide Kings sample excerpt on his website.  This excerpt stars the one-and-only Rustbelt, and is part of my contribution to the novel. The scene in question became the basis for the Suicide Kings cover art, which you can see here.  Once again, Michael Komarck knocked it out of the park.  (I have a framed print of this art hanging in my writing office, courtesy of my friends Ty and Jayne.)

I had a great time working on Suicide Kings.  Not only because I got to spend so much time playing around with Rusty, but also because I got to work closely with some really amazing writers.

If you ask me, Suicide Kings is the strongest novel in the Committee Triad.  I can only hope others will agree.

    Woulda been better with crocochucks.

But it’s pretty good even without them.

Yeah. I should have lobbied harder for the croco-chucks. Oh, well. I’ll know better next time.
