This site has been selected as an official Adobe Site of the Day for April 18, 2008. Hooray! Hello! and thank you! to the folks who have stopped by to check us out. Please feel free to leave a note and say hi down in the comments. Richard did a magnificent job designing and building this site, so I couldn’t be more delighted to see his work receiving the recognition it deserves. When he first unveiled his concept art to me, I was speechless. On the basis of a few email conversations, he managed to distill so many of the things I find interesting into a single coherent look and feel. Great work.
Less than two weeks ago, this site was featured as one of the Daily Deviations on deviantART. And we’ve received great recognition at Cool Home Pages, too. (Richard’s own site is receiving even higher ratings there, and after a much shorter period of time, too!)
Anyway, those of you who have been waiting breathlessly for that logical explanation of my encounter with the union-busting squirrel will get it soon. Promise.
Forthcoming blog entries:
Reasons Why Squirrels Are Smarter Than I Am (Part 2 of N): In which the changing seasons play a role.
Reasons… (Part 3 of N): In which lunchtime hunger battles fear of bubonic plague, and loses.
Ebola Monkey Explosion: No, it’s not a band. It’s an ice cream flavor. Well, okay, maybe both.
A Love Letter to NBC’s Prime Time Lineup, circa 1982: Our BBS’s petition drive is picking up steam: 13 signatures and growing!
Unfortunately, Trabuco Road is down at the moment, so anybody interested in reading my story, Come Dancefight, My Beloved Enemy can’t find it there. We’ll post it here soon, if TR continues to have hosting trouble.
Addendum:
I spoke too soon! Trabuco Road is back up. My story can be found here, or via the words page. Thanks, BK!
See? Told you it was a beautiful site… Nice job having talented friends! π Glad y’all are getting the recognition — it’s well deserved. This website is high and functional art.
Thanks, man. I really appreciate that. Richard did a wonderful job here. I feel obligated to write novels that live up to his work π
And thanks for getting Trabuco Road back online. I’m still sorry that work/life issues forced you to close it down (though I completely understand the reasoning). I hope that someday you’ll take another stab at editorial efforts. You have a strong eye for story, and I’d say that even if you hadn’t bought one of mine π
That is so cool that the site is getting such recognition!! It really is the perfect ‘teaser’ for your book. But it feels like so much more. As if we are all able to peek into some wonderfully eclectic laboratory. Love it!
By the way, that story of the squirrel… precious!! I can’t wait to find out the explanation. I have an affinity for squirrels (they appear in a lot of my artwork), so this charmed me to no end. π
Thanks, Aimee! I’m feeling almost a little bit naked from all of the attention. Which is weird, seeing as how it’s the entire purpose of this site! (Getting attention, I mean– not making me feel naked. That would be a very different website, and possibly illegal…) Our hits really started taking off thanks to your recommendation on deviantART, so I’m grateful to you.
Squirrels are really pretty amazing. I’m not entirely convinced they can’t read…
By the way, I’ve purchased 3 albums from Abney Park this week. I think I know what I’ll be listening to on my iPod this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation π
The site is amazing, and the recognition is well deserved. Richard has down an amazing job, and he should be taking many bows as well as getting lots of work.
