“Boo,” Said the Lunatic in Boston

Posted on October 31, 2008January 8, 2025 by eidolon

Tomorrow is All Hallows’ Day, making today, of course, Hallowmas Eve. In honor of the holiday, allow me to commend this story to your readerly attention.

This is, quite possibly, my favorite short story ever. And it has become a holiday tradition in my household.

If, after reading it, you find yourself perplexed, allow me to recommend the following tale for your viewing pleasure.

    My favorite line.

“Over this arrangement the mechanics snapped a pair of goggles, and I felt snug as one of the Vickers-gun’s chambered bullets.”

The author seems to have attained a fair degree of facility with the Tregillis style.
