…rocks my world. Why haven’t I learned about this wonderfulness before now?
Behind the times as I am, I’ve only just discovered Caro Emerald’s videos on YouTube. I loves me anything that’s steeped in the style of a bygone era. So this and this kind of make me swoon.
She’s like the Michael Jackson of the Netherlands! I’m really not surprised her first album has bested Michael Jackson’s Thriller for the number of weeks on the top of the charts… in the Netherlands.
Her cover of Bad Romance is surprisingly awesome, too.
(In other news, here’s a reminder that I’ve posted an update on the publishing schedule for Milkweed #2, The Coldest War.)
Catchy! Thanks for the tip.
Have you caught Max Raabe und Das Palast Orchester, who bring 1920s Weimar cabaret style to everything from period tunes by the Comedian Harmonists to, I do not lie, Britney Spears? Raabe played Mackie Messer (the Brecht one, not the Wild Cards one), and performed at Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese’s wedding. Which all adds up to something, yes?
“Kein Schwein ruft mich an” is a fave of mine: http://is.gd/fQNGB
Holy cow. That’s… amazing.
No, suffice it to say, this is completely new to me. But, I mean, wow. Britney Spears as 20s Weimar cabaret? You know, in some ways, that strikes me as perfect.
