Overheard at Lunch

Posted on July 16, 2011January 8, 2025 by eidolon

Sibling #1:  Our dad is the guy with the crazy hair who looks like a wizard.

Sibling #2:  You could just point to him.  Or you could say he’s the guy in the red shirt.

Sibling #1:  I like my way better.

Which sister is correct?  YOU DECIDE.

(Actually, the first sister was correct.  He really did look like a wizard.)

Wizards aside, Mythcon has been pretty fun so far.  It’s not every day that I hear people speaking Middle English as if it’s no big deal.   It’s a very nice group here.  Lots of serious scholarship, but it blends with genre very amicably and comfortably.  A nice change of pace, that.

You have to rephrase the question. Would you prefer he was described as looking like Dumbledore or the guy who dies a messy death five minutes into any episode of Star Trek?

Now *that* is a mashup idea that needs to exist.

    Dear internet: Make This Happen!
