The fine folks over at Apex Book Company recently gave me the opportunity to write a guest post for their blog. My post is now up at the Apex Blog.
(In case you weren’t already convinced that I have no business talking about writing in a public forum, the essay over at Apex should do the trick!)
I see that broccoli has a fractal dimension of 2.66 while the human brain has one of 2.79. So for Boy meets Girl, I guess I’d go with somewhere between broccoli and brain.
That was a nice blog entry. I like the idea of a story meeting itself at the end. Or, some version of itself.
And human(?) lung surface has a fractal dimension of 2.97, whereas the coastline of Norway is a mere 1.52, from which I infer that a story about asthmatic frost giants would have a fractal dimension around 2 or so!
Dear Ian,
Andy called from Afghanistan the other day and asked when the second book of your trilogy would be out. I said I didn’t know but would contact you and ask. He read the first book and really enjoyed it and is awaiting the second one’s release. Being in a remote area of a third world country he hasn’t got much access to current media or email so I am sending this query on his behalf. Do you have a release date yet? Could you send him a copy when you get your copies? Thank you!
That was an incredibly fascinating and informative blog post. It really has me thinking as I struggle with the rewrites on this urban fantasy. I’m going to link to it on my website.
Hi Zoe,
Of course, I’d be more than happy to get a copy to Andy. I could even try to get a review copy to him so he doesn’t have to wait quite so long. We can confer about the best way to get books to him. Glad to hear he’s doing OK out there.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
