Thanks Again, Alice Ann

Posted on August 10, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

No thanks to me whatsoever, the peach tree in my back yard is producing a bumper crop this year.  I didn’t get any peaches last summer, perhaps because of the ferociously cold winter that shattered water pipes all over town, but the year before that I ate sheer deliciousness right off the tree.

For that I thank Alice Ann, who lived here prior to me.  And who planted the peach tree years ago.

Another Round of Copyedits Finished

Posted on August 4, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

This past week at the day job was utterly crazytown bananapants.  Yikes.

So, just a quick update to mention that copyedits on Milkweed #3, Necessary Evil, are finished.  As with the first two Milkweed books, I was lucky to land a really superb copyeditor who went to great lengths to make me appear (somewhat) literate.

That’s another milestone on the way to publication.  And a pretty major one.  Next stop, galleys!  And before I know it, the calendar will say “April” and the book will be out.  Hooray!

Guest Post at Civilian Reader: The Origin of the Gotterelektron

Posted on July 27, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

A few days ago, the mastermind behind Civilian Reader (hello, Stefan!) generously invited me to write a guest post for the blog.  I was even told I could write on any topic of interest—a very brave invitation indeed!  Especially given my fascination with crackpot science…

Release Day: The Coldest War is Officially Out

Posted on July 17, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

OK—as you might notice from reading Boing Boing this morning, today’s the day: at long last The Coldest War is finally in US bookstores and ebookstores today! It’s now available in hardcover and DRM-FREE ebook editions.  Hooray!  [The Orbit UK/ANZ edition is scheduled for February, 2013.  And the US/UK editions of Necessary Evil are both scheduled for April, 2013.]

It seems like a strange thing to celebrate, since the audiobook has been available from Audible since January, and since copies of the book arrived in readers’ gardens as early as last week.  But today makes it about as official as it can get.  So again, hooray!  I’ve been waiting a long time for this, so I’m just pleased as pleased can be.  And The Coldest War is as published as a book can be.

Purchase links, and more about DRM-free ebooks, below the cut.
