My New Project: The Clakkers Trilogy

Posted on November 28, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

So, hey, Internet, how’s it going?  Long time no see.  I’ve been a bit of a stranger here on my own website.  Life has been crazier than normal the past few months.  Like, super!crazy.  How have you been?

What’s that?  Why has it been crazy?  Oh.  Well, since you ask—I’m working on a brand-new trilogy for the awesome folks at Orbit Books.

I’ve been sitting on this news for months, and I’m delighted beyond words to finally announce the project.  Hooray!  But paperwork has been signed and countersigned, so now I feel comfortable talking about this in public.  (I’m superstitious, you know.)

New Interview / Also, Stuff Was Broken

Posted on October 19, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

My Antipodean pal Emily Craven is interviewing authors in advance of the World Fantasy Convention in Toronto at the end of the month.  Even though I had to pull out of WFC this year, owing to a conflict with my work schedule, Emily kindly offered to interview me anyway.  Our conversation can be heard here or here.  By which I mean, of course, you can hear me ramble and babble while Emily tries heroically to keep the conversation on track!

New Covers! Orbit UK Editions of THE COLDEST WAR and NECESSARY EVIL

Posted on October 16, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

I had my first sneak peak at the Orbit UK covers for Milkweed #2 and #3, THE COLDEST WAR and NECESSARY EVIL, last week.  And I’ve been bubbling over with excitement ever since.  It feels like it was a terribly long wait until the covers were officially revealed, even though it was only a few days.

But anyway!  Yes!  The entire Milkweed Triptych has cover art for its Orbit editions.  And it’s all incredibly awesome.  As can be seen here, here, and in close-up here.   Man alive, I love these covers.

Helium, Briefly Revisited

Posted on September 29, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

Sigh.  Obviously, I’ve fallen off the keeping-the-website-updated wagon.  But is anybody surpised?  Of course not.  It’s not like there isn’t precedent.

Lots of crazy things going on in my life right now, including some incredibly exciting stuff.  But I can’t talk about most of it yet.  So I won’t.  Yet.  Suffice it to say that I’m going to be VERY BUSY for the medium-term future.  Mostly in a very good way—I’m deliriously happy.

In the meantime, though, helium is back in the news this week.

Bubonicon 44, It Has a Schedule

Posted on August 22, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

After several weeks, I’m still coming home from work every evening feeling like I’ve had my head tapped with a 1/2″ auger bit and all the neurotransmitter drained.  It’s not the most awesome thing in the world, but, on the other hand, it’s far from the worst thing in the world, too.

But!  Our local SF convention, Bubonicon, is THIS WEEKEND.  And, like all Bubonicons, it will be great.  Right now the promise of Bubonicon is what’s getting me through the week.  Below the cut: schedules!
