Now Shipping: The Mass-Market Paperback Edition of BITTER SEEDS

Posted on April 24, 2012January 8, 2025 by eidolon

Huh.  I thought this was coming out in early May.

But, according to several online retailers, the mmpb edition of Bitter Seeds is now available!

This is the US paperback edition, from Tor.  It includes the first chapter of The Coldest War, as well as the short story, “What Doctor Gottlieb Saw.”   This edition is wrapped in fantastic artwork by Chris McGrath, a piece of artwork I like to call, “Do Not Make Eye Contact With the Sociopathic Clairvoyant Woman.”  (I doubt that’s what Chris calls it.)

This is distinct from the Orbit UK edition, which will come out on July 12.  (The full schedule, as best as I know it at the moment, is available here.)  That edition will also contain extra material, including an interview.

I’m giving away 3 copies.  For free!  More details below the cut.

Over on Goodreads, I’m giving away 3 copies of this freshly released mmpb of Bitter Seeds.  I did something similar when the hardcover came out.  Did I mention these are free books?

Currently the giveaway is only open to people in the US.  I’m sorry about that.  But I don’t want to be perceived as undercutting my publisher in the UK — Orbit has been very enthusiastic about the Milkweed books and a big supporter.   They have already moved the UK release of Bitter Seeds forward from December to this July.

You are a prince among men, Andrew! May the sun shine on you every day of your life (except in cases when you have sunburn).

He’s working on the cover for the third book now. I’m excited to see what McGrath does there.

The July date for The Coldest War ebook could turn out well for it. It should be amoung the first new ebooks out under Tor’s DRM free policy–might be more eyes than usual checking out Tor titles right then. Synchronicity is good.

Hey, good point, Steve. I hadn’t even considered that. But you’re right– it can only help. Synchronicity can be our friend at times.

I saw the mmpb at the local B&N last night. The cover looks great!

Wow! Thank you *very* much for the field report, Dawn. Knowing people have seen it in the wild somehow makes it much more real. I’m looking forward to seeing a copy myself. Thanks for the encouraging words on the cover, too. I like it a lot.

I’d enter the drawing, but I won a copy already on Pat’s Fantasy List and I don’t want to appear greedy. (greedier..) Eager to buy the next one.

Congratulations on winning Pat’s giveaway — it was very cool of him to do that. I sincerely hope the book proved worthy of the money you paid for it!

And, if you read the next one, I hope you enjoy that one, too.
